UPDATE: Wolves Get Lalonde With Second Pick

Windsor native Owen Lalonde was selected second overall in the 2016 OHL Priority Draft.

The Wolves announced they selected the 16-year-old defenceman around 15 minutes into the draft.

Lalonde spent last season with the Windsor Jr. Spitfires AAA club. He scored 13 G and 24 A in 33 games played.

This marks the highest a Windsor-Essex native has been drafted in the OHL since Bell River's Aaron Ekblad was selected first overall in 2011.

Meanwhile the Windsor Spitfires started drafting with the first pick of the second round, selecting Connor Corcoran. The Beeton, Ontario native had warm words to those close to him following his selection.

The 6'0" right winger had 22 G and 26 A last season with the Barrie Colts AAA squad. In the fourth round, the Spits picked up Chris Playfair from the Waterloo Wolves AAA system.
