Spitfires Collecting Bottled Water

The Windsor Spitfires are asking fans to bring bottled water to their game against the Flint Firebirds tonight to help the city with its water crisis.

"We're very fortunate here in our great city to not have any issues like this but they're going through a lot there, I've talked to people there myself and it's quite tough so this is a great way to give back," says Warren Rychel, general manger of the Windsor Spitfires.

The teams are playing home and home this week and the Spitfires want to fill a fan bus going to Flint Michigan on Saturday with cases of bottled water.

"We have the best fans in the CHL here with the Windsor Spitfires. Every time we call on them for initiatives like this they blow us out of the water, no pun intended," says Nathan Sellon, coordinator of fan development

The water can be dropped off at sections 108 and 109 in the arena concorse. There will also be staff available outside Gate 2 for patrons who can't carry the water into the arena.

Water will continue to be collected at the WFCU Centre and the Crease at Devonshire Mall until noon on Saturday.
