A trick-or-treater in LaSalle got something more than just sweet treats in their bag over the weekend.
A resident contacted LaSalle police on Sunday to report that a child received a Tootsie Roll with a paperclip inside while trick-or-treating Saturday night.
Police say the paperclip was visible and not consumed. No injuries were reported.

LaSalle Police Chief Michael Pearce has asked parents to make sure they check their child's loot before letting them eat anything.
"We are asking children and parents to check the candy they collected on Halloween," said Pearce in an e-mail to WindsorNewsToday.ca. "This should be common practice every year, but we want to ensure families are exercising extra vigilance considering this reported incident."
The source of the candy is unclear, as the child visited multiple streets on Halloween night, but the complainant believes it may have been on Maple Avenue between Matchett Road and Malden Road.
Anyone with information on this incident should call LaSalle police at (519) 969-5210.
