Transit Windsor transitioning to new payment app in October

Transit Windsor will launch a new fare management system on October 5.

Through the Umo mobile app, riders will be able to reload funds, manage multiple riders, and access trip planning and real-time transit information.

Riders without a smartphone can purchase a reloadable Umo card for $6 or continue to pay a cash fare.

"The rollout of Umo is an important step in modernizing how riders interact with Transit Windsor, while ensuring flexibility remains in place. Whether customers choose to manage their account through the app, use a reloadable card, or pay with cash, this system is designed to provide options that meet a range of needs," said James Chacko, Executive Director at Transit Windsor. "Our focus throughout this transition is on supporting riders with clear information, in-person assistance, and the tools they need to feel comfortable using the new system.”

Any balance on a smart card must be used by December 31, 2026 as it cannot be transferred to the new system.

Customer support will be available at terminals and key stops during rollout. Information sessions will also be held at high schools, post-secondary institutions and other community partner sites.
