The City of Windsor says it has been working almost nonstop to help residents clean up after this weekend's storms.
The City has activated its standard emergency response after storms on Friday and Sunday brought high wind gusts and dumped torrential rain.
"Forestry crews have been working through service requests for downed trees impacting municipal right-of-way, with over 800 requests received starting this weekend following the significant storm," read a release from the City.
For tree-related service requests, use the 311 app.
A special tree waste collection, in partnership with Miller Waste, will take place over the next two weeks, starting Tuesday in collection Zones B, then next week in Zones A. Refer to your waste collection schedule for details.
For the additional pickup, residents are asked to limit the branch length to four feet, the thickness to no more than four inches, and the weight to 44 pounds. Residents are also asked to tie branches together if possible.
Any storm waste that does not meet the criteria may be dropped off at the Central Avenue depot at no cost.
If you have items damaged by basement flooding, the City suggests doing the following.
Contact your insurance provider before starting the house waste cleanup.
Then, log a “Basement Flooding” service request on the Windsor 311 app or online portal by the end of the day Friday, and the City will provide a special waste collection pickup.
Residents are responsible for ensuring flood-damaged items or materials are set out at the curb prior to submitting the service request.
Do not include paint or chemicals.
