Assault and extortion suspect added to Wanted in Windsor list

Windsor police have asked the public for help in finding a man wanted for a violent assault almost two years ago.

Investigators say that in July 2024, Alwassi Al Latif allegedly forced a man into his vehicle and drove him to another location, where the victim was assaulted and robbed.

Police say the victim was threatened with more violence against him and his family if he told anyone what happened.

Al Latif is wanted on multiple charges, including forcible confinement, assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, two counts of extortion, five counts of uttering death threats, and uttering threats to property.

At the time of the incident, Al Latif was on a conditional sentence that required him to submit to electronic monitoring and not leave Ontario. In October 2024, he was granted permission to leave the province without the monitor.

He hasn't been seen since.

Al Latif is described as 28 years old, Middle Eastern, with a dark complexion and medium build, 5’ 8”, and 161 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Al Latif's whereabouts should call Windsor police at (519) 258-6111. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
