Five teens charged after BB gun incident in east Windsor

Windsor police say five teenagers have been charged following an alleged weapons incident last week.

Officers were called at around 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, to Wells Street near Strathmore. The victim said one suspect got out of a white Dodge Caravan and confronted her with a machete, while someone inside the vehicle shot at them with a BB gun.

The minivan was then driven off, with a witness trying to follow it. When going eastbound on the E.C. Row Expressway, the witness was allegedly shot at with the BB gun, which caused the witness to stop following the suspects.

No one was hurt.

Police found the minivan on the following afternoon, and officers from the Major Crimes Unit were able to identify the five suspects.

On Thursday, three suspects turned themselves in to Windsor police headquarters, and the other two were arrested on Jefferson Boulevard near Wyandotte Street East.

All five suspects, who can't be named publicly under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, are charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and discharging an air gun with intent to wound.

In addition, two 14-year-old males and a 15-year-old male were also charged with three counts of failure to comply with a release order. One of the 14-year-olds was also charged with dangerous driving.

Another 14-year-old male was also charged with wearing a disguise to commit an indictable offence.
