UPDATE: Vacant home goes up in flames on Aylmer Avenue

A fire on Aylmer Avenue on Friday morning is now considered suspicious.

Firefighters got the call just before 6 a.m. on Friday after flames engulfed a vacant house on Aylmer between Wyandotte Street East and Brant Street.

An investigator on the scene said the home was being used by "unauthorized personnel," and the fire caused $200,000 damage.

No one was hurt, but the public was asked to stay clear of the area on Friday morning.

For a few hours during the morning commute, Windsor Police closed Wyandotte Street East between Aylmer and Glengarry Avenue. The street is open now.

Anyone with information about the fire can contact the Windsor Police Service Arson Unit at 519-258-6111 or Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477.
