Saints blank Concordia at CCAA National Championship

With a stifling defence and timely goals, the St. Clair College women's soccer team beat Concordia University 4-0 in their bronze quarter-final game at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer National Championship.

The win puts the team in contention for the bronze medal at the tournament in Red Deer, Alberta.

The Saints' Victoria Walsh broke free from the Thunder's defence in the 14th minute to score, and then in the second half, the team scored again. This time, Tecumseh's Talia Liburdi manoeuvred around Concordia and struck the ball low in the net.

Walsh had her second goal, the Saints' third, in the 76th minute, and two minutes later, Kaedence Ingram had the winner.

St. Clair faces PACWEST British Columbia winner Vancouver Island University Mariners next, and the winner will advance to the bronze medal match on Saturday.

On Wednesday, the Saints lost to Mount Saint Vincent University 1-0.
