Teen charged, suspect sought in Erie Street robbery

Windsor police say a 15-year-old has been arrested, and another person is at large following a violent robbery earlier this month.

Officers responded to Erie Street East and Lillian Avenue at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, for a robbery complaint.

They learned that two young people were approached by two others who demanded their clothing and other items. When the victims refused to hand them over, one of the suspects sprayed them with a noxious substance. The pair then ran off.

The victims suffered minor injuries.

Police reviewed security camera footage of the incident and identified a 15-year-old boy, who was arrested on Wednesday in the area of Pelissier Street and Elliott Street West.

The youth is charged with two counts of robbery, and can not be named under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The second suspect is outstanding. He is described as White, wearing a black Nike balaclava, black puffy jacket, black pants, and black shoes.

Anyone with information should call the Windsor police's Major Crimes Unit at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
