Teens charged after joyride in stolen vehicle ends in a crash

Two teens are in trouble with the law after a stolen vehicle was involved in a crash in Windsor.

Just before 5 p.m. last Thursday, police responded to the crash on Assumption Street between Aylmer Avenue and Louis Avenue.

Officers learned a 14-year-old boy was behind the wheel and almost struck pedestrians at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then collided with another vehicle. Investigators also discovered the vehicle had been stolen from a home in Harrow.

The drivers of both vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The teen can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000, theft of a motor vehicle, and dangerous operation of a conveyance.

A 16-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the stolen vehicle, is also charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000.
