After approving a major road rehabilitation project on Malden Road earlier this week, the Town of LaSalle is ready to issue the tender for the contract.
"Malden Road is a key corridor in our town, and although the construction period will be extremely inconvenient for everyone, these upgrades will help us meet the needs of our community while improving safety for everyone," said LaSalle Mayor Crystal Meloche.
The tender process starts in late 2025. Councillors will choose the contractor early next year.
Phase one of the project will be between Normandy Street and Reaume Road. Upgrades include a new traffic signal at Reaume Road, widening of the Cahill Bridge, two new pedestrian crossings, and a large-diameter storm sewer.
Malden Road will shut down entirely during construction, shaving eight weeks off the duration of the project and saving the town approximately $725,000. Local businesses will remain open, and the work won't start until the Front Road Storm Sewer Reconstruction project is complete.
The Malden Road Phase 1 project is part of a larger plan to improve the flow of traffic along the corridor.
