Stoney Point Community Park reconstruction moving forward

Stoney Point Community Park is expected to reopen, new and improved, by Canada Day 2026.

Lakeshore Council approved a proposed plan and the tender at its Wednesday meeting.

"We know Stoney Point/Pointe-aux-Roches residents have been eagerly awaiting the reconstruction of this park, and we are thrilled to see it move forward. The plan is a product of years of community input, and we appreciate everyone who took the time to share their vision," said Mayor Tracey Bailey.

The park is slated to include a new splash pad and playground, upgraded washroom and pavilion, natural play area, shade structure, exercise nodes, rehabilitated skate park, new basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts, additional asphalt parking areas and pathways, as well as improvements to the toboggan hill.

"This isn't just an investment in a park," Mayor Bailey said. "Now, more than ever, community members are looking for affordable and accessible spaces to gather and connect. This is an investment in our communities, accessibility, and the health and well-being of our residents."

Barrineti Construction Ltd. will begin construction this year.

According to the municipality, the total cost of the project will be $4,972,913.43.
