The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors is applauding city council's decision to designate new residential corridors across the city.
The Official Plan Amendment designates areas of Cabana Road West, Lauzon Road and Wyandotte Street East as areas for residential growth.
The designation will allow housing intensification through a balanced approach by introducing townhomes, stacked dwellings and low to mid-rise apartments along the corridors.
"This is a smart and forward-looking decision by City Council that will help unlock more housing options for families in Windsor. Concentrating residential growth along key corridors like Cabana Road West, Lauzon Road, and Wyandotte Street East, Council is making efficient use of our existing infrastructure and supporting the creation of more diverse housing choices, including the ‘missing middle’ homes our community needs," said Julianna Biondo, president of WECAR.
Council members were assured there will be checks and balances in place before any residential development along the corridors is approved.
