The $76 million expansion to the facility that dries, stores, and ships grain through Port Windsor is now complete in time for the fall harvest.
Archer Daniels Midland Company began construction on the additional grain silos, drying facilities, and trucking facilities in January 2024. All of the projects were completed ahead of schedule.
"It's going to allow us to maintain being one of the stronger facilities in North America for not only ADM but the industry, and it's going to allow to maintain and secure jobs and give us opportunity for future growth," said Kevin Wright, General Manager of the Great Lakes region for ADM.
Around 150 people are employed at the facility in west Windsor.
ADM supports farmers in Essex, Kent, Lambton, Middlesex, and Elgin counties to reach global markets in Europe, the United States and Latin America.
"This is the single largest investment in the history of Port Windsor," said Steve Salmons, president and CEO of the Windsor Port Authority. "This is ship after ship of new grain going to world markets, supporting our farmers and local workers and local industry. This is just a massive project and huge news for this city."
The project was supported with a $26.3 million grant from the federal government.
