Police seize drugs, cash, and a prohibited weapon during Essex raid

The Ontario Provincial Police say officers found drugs, including cocaine, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and a prohibited weapon while searching a home in the Town of Essex.

Officers from the Essex County OPP Community Street Crime Unit searched a home in the 100 block of Talbot Street North on Thursday, along with members of the OPP Tactics and Response Unit and the Emergency Response Team.

The total value of the drugs, property, and cash seized is approximately $14,500.

As a result of the investigation, officers arrested a 39-year-old Essex man and charged him with three counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.

The suspect was released from custody and has an appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on October 3.
