Four teens charged in kidnapping, extortion

Windsor police made multiple arrests after a man was kidnapped earlier this month.

Just after midnight on August 11, a man was walking on St. Joseph Street in west Windsor when he was confronted by four people in a 2012 Subaru Legacy. The suspects threatened the victim with a handgun and a machete and forced him into the vehicle.

Windsor police report the man was held against his will for two hours while he was repeatedly assaulted and threatened with weapons.

At one point, the suspects drove to a convenience store on Mill Street and forced the victim to steal alcohol while holding the machete to his stomach.

The victim was eventually able to escape at a nearby park.

Police say the suspects were identified through an investigation, and arrest warrants were issued.

Three fifteen-year-olds and one 17-year-old were arrested between August 14 and 19. They are all facing charges of kidnapping, extortion, forcible confinement, possession of property obtained by crime, a failure to comply with a Youth Criminal Justice Act sentence.

The identities of the accused cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
