Do you want to help shape the municipal budget for the Town of Essex?
Essex residents are invited to two upcoming public meetings so they can ask questions and gain insight into the municipal budget process.
The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Essex Arena (Shaheen Room).
A second meeting is Thursday, October 2, 4:30–6:30 p.m., in the community room at Harrow Arena.
"Community engagement is a top priority for us," said Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy. "Your input matters, and we encourage everyone to participate and have their voice heard."
Town directors will be in attendance on both days to explain how the budget impacts different departments.
Residents are asked to provide input on community programming and recreation facilities, emergency response and preparedness, flood prevention, housing and commercial development, modernization, sustainability and accessibility, parks and trails, road repairs, and sidewalks, parking, and pedestrian services.
Residents can also learn more about the budget through the town's interactive online tool. It allows users to create their own draft budget by allocating funds to capital initiatives. They can also prioritize key spending areas and submit feedback. The deadline for those submissions is Friday, October 10.
