OPP arrest three in county for impaired driving

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were once again kept busy over the weekend, as several drivers were charged with impaired driving.

Police said three people were arrested in just over 48 hours.

The first arrest was just after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, when officers from the Kingsville detachment responded to a single-vehicle crash. A 23-year-old Leamington man was charged with impaired driving and driving with a high blood-alcohol concentration.

The second arrest was at around 10 p.m. on Saturday in Lakeshore. Officers acted on a complaint about a suspected impaired driver. The vehicle was found on County Road 22. Police spoke with the driver, a 25-year-old Lakeshore man, and arrested him. He is charged with impaired driving, driving with excessive blood alcohol, and dangerous driving.

Thirdly, an officer from the Essex detachment was patrolling at around 3:30 a.m. on Monday when they found a vehicle in a ditch on North Malden Road. A 24-year-old Essex resident is charged with impaired driving and driving with a high blood-alcohol concentration.

All three drivers have had their licences suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for seven days apiece.

The charges have not been proven in court. All three drivers will have a chance to respond to the charges in a Windsor court later this summer.
