City to review Community Improvement Plans

With its earliest Community Improvement Plan dating back to 2010, the City of Windsor plans to review all seven of its so-called "CIPs" to ensure they're still relevant.

CIPs are tools used by cities and towns to stimulate community revitalization, spur affordable housing development, kick-start environmental remediation, and ensure development is sustainable.

The city's planning department will partner with WSP Canada Inc. and Parcel Economics Inc. to evaluate the effectiveness of the Community Improvement Plans, identify gaps and areas for improvement, and recommend policy and incentive changes.

There's a virtual open house to gather public input on Tuesday, July 8, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. A public survey is also available online until July 8.

City councillors will get a report with recommendations, but the review will not directly change existing CIPs. Instead, it'll provide a roadmap for future updates.
