A community safety initiative by Windsor police has resulted in 17 arrests over a three-day period.
Between Friday and Sunday, members of the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Unit teamed up with representatives from the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation for a targeted blitz in the Glengarry neighbourhood.
Officers arrested 17 people and laid 22 charges. A vehicle reported stolen in Waterloo was also recovered. Charges included break-and-enter, theft under $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.
"This operation was part of our ongoing efforts to support public safety in the Glengarry area," said Windsor Police Staff Sergeant Brian Caffarena. "In addition to addressing criminal activity, we will continue to work closely with our health and human services partners to support residents and improve quality of life in the neighbourhood."
Windsor police have been working with various community partners to improve the quality of life in the neighbourhood, which has consistently been among the areas with the highest number of police calls.
