Kayakers rescued after capsizing in Detroit River

Windsor police say a pair of kayakers are safe after being rescued from the Detroit River Thursday morning.

Few details are available, but officers were called to Lakeview Marina at around 10:30 a.m., for a report of two kayakers who had overturned near the marina.

Windsor police told WindsorNewsToday.ca that bystanders in a nearby boat helped right the kayakers.

The pair were checked out by first responders. Police say they were not seriously hurt.

Law enforcement across Ontario have urged people to be safe on highways and waterways as we head into Victoria Day weekend.
