Teen driver cited for stunt driving in Tecumseh

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have once again stressed the importance of driving responsibly after stopping a young driver.

A patrol officer was on Highway 3 in Tecumseh on Tuesday morning when they spotted a speeding vehicle passing other cars on the centre lane, with a light rain falling.

The 19-year-old driver was stopped, clocked at 134 kilometres per hour in an 80-kilometre-per-hour zone.

The driver is charged with stunt driving, improper use of the centre lane, careless driving, failure to surrender their permit, and driving without a valid insurance card.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded for 14 days. The driver's licence was suspended for 30 days.

The traffic stop came as the OPP began a province-wide enforcement initiative that will last through the upcoming Victoria Day weekend.
