We got soaked over the weekend, and forecasters say more rain is in the forecast.
With that, the Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA) has extended a watershed conditions statement that had previously been in effect.
"Rain gauges across the region recorded 25 to 30 millimetres of rainfall [Sunday] and [Monday] morning," said ERCA Water Resources Engineer Tian Martin. "Forecasts predict that our region will receive another 10 to 15 millimetres of rainfall [Monday] evening and overnight to Tuesday morning. While this is a smaller amount, the ground conditions are currently saturated with little to no infiltration capacity."
While Environment Canada has not issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex, Martin added that low-lying areas already affected may experience ponding.
Residents are still asked to stay clear of any flood-prone areas and be careful around bodies of water. The combination of fast-moving water and slippery banks can be hazardous.
The advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
