Almost $5-million in funding from the Ontario government will help support public transit across the region.
It's from the 2024-25 Gas Tax program and can be used to expand public transit service hours, increase routes, buy new vehicles, and improve accessibility.
"The importance of having a reliable and affordable public transit system can't be overlooked," said Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie. "Our government is giving people more ways to connect with their community and the people that matter most to them."
Windsor will receive the lion's share of the funding, over $4.4-million. Tecumseh will receive $176,470, another $285,098 will go to LaSalle, and $113,680 to Amherstburg.
"No matter where you live, workers and families deserve access to fast, reliable, and affordable public transit that connects them to good jobs and housing," said Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria.
