The Town of Essex has offered residents another option to pay their utilities and property taxes.
This week, the municipality launched "myEssex", a one-stop digital platform that allows residents to pay water, wasterwater, and property tax bills with a credit card.
The platform went live on Wednesday.
"Our goal with myEssex is to provide a service that meets the needs of our residents while improving overall accessibility and convenience," said Mayor Sherry Bondy. "Whether it’s paying property taxes or water and wastewater bills, myEssex allows residents to take care of their obligations on their own time and from wherever they are."
The platform provides an option for people who would rather not make payments in person at Town Hall.
Residents may also view their statements and bills on the platform. Those who already have e-billing will continue to receive their bills via email.
The Virtual City Hall platform on the Town's official website will be dropped as of mid-May. Users of that platform are now encouraged to sign up for "myEssex".
Use of the new platform will apply a processing fee of $1.50, plus 2.35 per cent for credit cards, or $1.50 for EFT.
