LaSalle extends deputy police chief's contract to 2029

The LaSalle Police Services Board wants to keep LaSalle Police Deputy Chief Jason Woods around a little longer.

It extended Woods' contract until the end of 2029, another three years.

"His leadership, unwavering commitment to community safety, and understanding of the challenges facing modern policing have been invaluable," said Mayor Crystal Meloche. "This contract extension ensures that we will continue to benefit from his experience."

Initially, Woods was appointed in 2022. Since then, he's been a vital part of the LaSalle Police Service's leadership team, especially in collaborating with the new Police Chief, Michael Pearce, said the town.

"We have built a cohesive leadership team that is aligned in our commitment to the LaSalle community," said Pearce. "Jason's expertise, experience, and leadership style have been essential in driving our shared goals forward."

Woods has served in many roles with the LaSalle Police Service. He's been an acting deputy chief, community liaison officer, criminal investigations supervisor, and staff sergeant.
