Two arrested after police shut down Windsor pot dispensary

An illegal cannabis dispensary in Windsor has been closed by police, with two people facing charges.

The OPP-led Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team worked with Windsor police on an investigation of a suspected illicit dispensary working under the name Kush City Trading Post.

Police said that the dispensary was operating without the approval of Health Canada or the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

Officers executed a warrant on Tuesday, March 4, and the estimated value of the illegal cannabis products seized is estimated at $47,800. A total of $1,000 in Canadian currency was also confiscated.

A 42-year-old Leamington resident and a 32-year-old from Windsor are both charged with possession of proceeds of crime, possession of cannabis with intent to sell, and possession of illicit cannabis.

The charges have not been proven in court. The suspects will be able to respond in a Windsor court on April 7.
