Windsor-Essex home sales drop to start 2025

It was a slower start to the new year for the real estate industry in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors (WECAR) released the January sales figures on Tuesday, which reported a 9.97 per cent decline in homes for sale, compared to January 2024.

The decline in January broke a streak of five straight months when home sales were higher than their corresponding months in 2024.

There were a lot of people who decided to put their properties up for sale, though. In January, there were 815 new listings, compared to 645 the year before for an increase of 26.3 per cent.

When the report was released, WECAR reported 1,254 active listings in Windsor-Essex.

The average cost of a home for sale went up in January. The average price for January was $572,643, up 6.55 per cent from the same month in 2024.
