Windsor Fire and Rescue say crews were called before noon to the home on Kennedy Drive West off McGraw Avenue, not far from Roseland Golf Club.
The fire was eventually put out and an investigator spent much of the afternoon looking into the cause, which was accidental.
No injuries were reported.
The damage is estimated at $100,000.
Walpole Island First Nation, Kettle and Stony Point First Nation, and Saugeen First Nation are each getting $5,000 grants for their fire departments.
Another program is expected to open at Brookside Public School near Lucknow in January.
