Windsor Fire and Rescue was called shortly after 9:30 a.m. to a home on Moy Avenue off Cataraqui Street.
The fire was declared out shortly after noon. No injuries were reported.
An investigator was on scene all Monday afternoon, but was unable to determine the cause.
The damage is estimated at $500,000.
Alan Smith will begin his new role with the municipality on July 20.
