Ontario NDP names Windsor-Tecumseh candidate

A familiar face has been nominated to run in the next provincial election.

The Ontario NDP announced that Gemma Grey-Hall was nominated again to stand in the Windsor-Tecumseh riding. She was formally named the candidate at a riding meeting Tuesday night.

"There is a legacy of strong, effective, NDP leadership here in Windsor, and I am so excited to join Marit Stiles and the Ontario NDP to bring real results for our community," said Grey-Hall in a statement. "After six years of Ford, our Windsor residents are struggling. Long health care wait times, strained emergency services to struggling small businesses - something has to change. It’s time we had a government that worked as hard as the people of Windsor did."

She will run against the incumbent, Andrew Dowie of the PC Party. He was acclaimed last month. In the 2022 provincial election, Grey-Hall finished a distant second to Dowie.

Grey-Hall is a board member of Women's Enterprise Skills Training (WEST) of Windsor Inc. She is also on the board of Black Women of Forward Action.

Grey-Hall had also been a candidate for Windsor City Council.

The next provincial election is set for June 2026. However, Premier Doug Ford has hinted about asking voters to go to the polls as soon as next year.
