The Essex Region Conservation Authority needs public feedback on its draft Conservation Areas Strategy, so it's holding an open house later this month.
"There has been significant growth in visitation to local conservation areas and trails since the pandemic," said Director of Conservation Services Kevin Money. "ERCA works to balance the mandatory services we must provide with the public's wish list for programming and amenities within the budget constraints we face. Gathering feedback from the public helps us to best determine where investments in conservation areas should be made."
Changes to the Conservation Authorities Act in 2020 require ERCA to prepare a strategy for all lands owned or controlled by the authority. The deadline is December 31.
The Open House is set for November 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Essex Centre Sports Complex on Fairview Avenue West in Essex. A virtual presentation starts at 1:30 p.m.
The presentation will be posted on ERCA's website later that evening at 6 p.m.
