Reports of TikTok door-knock challenge in Windsor

Windsor police warn that a social media trend encouraging people to kick in the front doors of homes has made its way to the city.

Multiple incidents of the "TikTok door-knock challenge" have been reported. In each case, a group of suspects kicked in the front doors of the homes while filming the incident.

Around 7 p.m. on October 20, officers were called to an attempted break-in at a house on Stillmeadow Road in Forest Glade. Unknown suspects were seen fleeing from the scene.

About an hour later, a group of teenagers kicked in the front door and threw a rock through a window of a house on Hawthorne Drive. The group then ran away.

“The Windsor Police Target Base Unit is currently investigating these incidents and will lay charges once the suspects are identified,” said Windsor Police Constable Anthony Gebrael. “This type of activity is not only criminal but can potentially lead to dangerous situations for both the suspects and homeowners.”

The suspects in both cases are still outstanding. Anyone with information on these or other similar incidents is asked to call the Windsor Police Service Target Base Unit at 519-255-6700, ext. 4350.
