Windsor receives $2.4M cheque as host of Caesars

The City of Windsor has received a quarterly payment for playing host to a casino.

Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has sent the City a cheque for $2,401,974 for hosting Caesars Windsor in the second quarter of 2024.

The quarterly payments the City of Windsor receives for hosting Caesars Windsor are computed through a formula applied to all the province's gaming sites, using a graduated scale of revenue at the host property.

"As it has for decades in Ontario, land-based gaming continues to serve as a source of good local jobs and generates vital economic activity in the communities that host gaming sites," said Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Stan Cho. "From helping build neighbourhood parks to supporting community programs, proceeds received through the Municipality Contribution Agreement with OLG help make municipalities all across the province better places to live and work."

So far, during the OLG's 2024-25 fiscal year, Windsor has received $5,454,233.

Since the complex opened in May 1994, Windsor has received $97,772,007.
