Many Windsor-Essex residents will take an extended break to be with friends and loved ones on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving Monday is a federal statutory holiday. All federal, provincial, and municipal offices will be closed.
There will be no Canada Post delivery.
ServiceOntario branches will be closed on Thanksgiving. Some transactions, such as driver's licence and plate renewals, can be completed on its website.
All banks, credit unions, and financial institutions will be closed, though ATMs are accessible 24 hours daily.
All four publicly-funded school boards serving Windsor-Essex will take Monday off. The same goes for St. Clair College and the University of Windsor. Classes for all schools resume on Tuesday.
All branches of the Windsor Public Library and the Essex County Library will be closed on Sunday and Monday, reopening on Tuesday.
The Beer Store and all LCBO outlets will open on Sunday as usual but will close on Monday. However, alcoholic beverages may still be purchased at licenced grocery stores or convenience stores. Many markets and big-box retailers will be closed or have shortened hours.
If you aren't planning to have Thanksgiving dinner or don't want to cook, note that many Windsor-Essex restaurants will be closed or have abbreviated hours on Monday. Check hours first to avoid a wasted trip.
Devonshire Mall and Tecumseh Mall in Windsor are both closed on Monday. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle, however, will be open on Thanksgiving from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
There will be no residential garbage, yard waste, or recyclable pickup on Monday. Pickups will be delayed a day. Refer to your waste collection calendar for more information. Commercial garbage and recyclable collections will take place as usual.
The public drop-off centre at Central and EC Row in Windsor will be closed Monday.
The 311 call centre will be closed Monday, and reopen Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The 211 call centre will operate 24 hours a day as usual.
All community centres, customer care centres, and arenas in the City of Windsor are closed Monday except for previously booked or scheduled events.
The Windsor Spitfires will play at the WFCU Centre on Monday against the Oshawa Generals, with a 2:05 p.m. faceoff.
The H-4 program at Windsor Water World will operate as usual from 8 a.m. to midnight.
All of Windsor's indoor pools, along with Adventure Bay Family Water Park, will be closed on Thanksgiving.
At Lakeview Park Marina, the customer service office and fuel dock will be open regular hours Sunday, then from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. The boat launch ramps will operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
There will be no parking enforcement in Windsor on Sunday or Monday. Metered street parking is free on both days, and all traffic fine payment offices will be closed. Parking garages and lots, however, will be paid as usual.
The Francois Baby House and Chimczuk Museum in Windsor are both open regular hours on Sunday, but closed on Monday, their usual off days.
Transit Windsor buses will operate on a normal schedule on Sunday but on a Sunday-holiday schedule on Monday. The downtown transit terminal and the sales office on North Service Road will be closed on Thanksgiving.
