WIFF receives new tech prior to 20th anniversary

More films at the 20th Windsor International Film Festival will be viewed at the highest quality thanks to a donation from the Windsor Port Authority.

The authority donated a new laser projector and sound equipment that will be installed in the main theatre of the Capitol Theatre.

"This is something that is more and more expected in terms of getting the big films and getting audiences here for that. They're expecting to see it with this type of format," said Vincent Georgie, Executive Director of WIFF. "This was something we saw as something important cause it's really about our future."

Vincent said the new equipment improves the audience experience immensely.

"You're not going to have that type of picture quality, sound quality, being in a beautiful historic theatre like the Capitol Theatre, those types of things cannot happen at home," said Georgie. "What is so impactful here is this fundamentally feeds into people having an exceptional experience through film."

WIFF runs from October 24 to November 3 and will include 327 screenings of 213 feature films. Tickets are on sale now.
