Third quarter sales of Windsor-built vehicles mixed

Sales for Stellantis' Windsor-built vehicles went in opposite directions during the third quarter of 2024.

The automaker released its quarterly sales figures this week.

The Chrysler Grand Caravan minivan, built at the Windsor Assembly Plant, sold 954 vehicles in Canada during the third quarter, a 79 per cent increase from the same period in 2023.

In 2024 to date, sales for the Grand Caravan were up 85 per cent, compared to the first three quarters of 2023.

The Chrysler Pacifica minivan, however, reported a 32 per cent drop in third-quarter sales. 1,218 units were sold, down from 1,796 in last year's third quarter.

Year to date, Pacifica sales are down by 33 per cent.

Stellantis Canada reported an overall 24 per cent decline in sales during the quarter.

"The third quarter of 2024 was a pivotal period, as we strategically right-sized inventory levels to market demand and set the stage for the highly anticipated launches of the made-in-Canada, all-electric 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona and the Jeep Wagoneer S," said Stallantis Canada President Jeff Hines.

The all-new Dodge Charger Daytona is being built at Windsor Assembly, with production underway. The model, though, will first be sold in Quebec and British Columbia.
