More people are putting a For Sale sign on their front lawn, but housing sales in Windsor-Essex barely budged in August from July.
Realtors sealed the deal on 463 properties last month, a decrease of 0.8 per cent from July and a 0.22 per cent increase from August 2023, when 462 homes changed hands. Almost half of those homes sold for between $420,000 and $699,999.
So far this year, sales have slipped 1.37 per cent. By this time last year, 3,567 homes were sold in the region, compared to 3,518 in the first eight months of 2024.
The Windsor Essex County Association of Realtors said there were 1,791 properties for sale when it published its statistics for last month.
Market activity increased 2.27 per cent in August compared to one year ago but has climbed 10.13 per cent eight months into 2024.
The average home price in Windsor-Essex increased 4.56 per cent over August 2023, from $587,553 to $561,916.
