One person charged in machete attack

Two people were injured during a machete attack early Saturday morning.

The Windsor Police Service responded to a report of an assault at a motel, near the intersection of Howard Avenue and Edinborough Street.

Police said when officers arrived at the scene they located two victims, one was found with an injury to their head consistent with a slash wound.

The victim was taken to the hospital with severe but non-life threatening injuries.

Police said an altercation allegedly took place between the two victims and a man inside a nearby motel room.

Investigators said once the argument became physical the accused pulled out a machete from under a mattress and assaulted both victims.

Police immediately searched the motel and surrounding area but could not locate the suspect.

According to police, the 41-year-old man was located and arrested when he returned to his motel room at around 10:30 a.m.

The accused is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, assault, and two counts of uttering threats to cause death.
