OPP seek dashcam footage of Friday's crash on Hwy. 401

The Ontario Provincial Police hope anyone who witnessed the first of two crashes on Hwy. 401 last Friday will check their dashcam footage.

The number to reach the OPP is 1-888-310-1122. Crime Stopper's number is 1-800-222-8477, but witnesses can also leave their tips online at www.catchcrooks.com.

The OPP charged a Lakeshore man in connection to that crash in the westbound lanes between Gracey Side Road and Comber Side Road.

Officers arrived on the scene at 10:22 a.m. and interviewed witnesses who said a vehicle, driven erratically, smashed into several other cars.

They also said two people in the vehicle ran away from the crash scene. Officers arrested both of them on Lakeshore Road 305.

A 20-year-old man is charged with driving while impaired, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while prohibited, driving while under suspension, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to comply with a demand.

There's a bail hearing in Windsor for the accused while a second person was released unconditionally from police custody.

While police investigated that collision, two tractor-trailers and a pickup truck collided.

The driver of one tractor-trailer died, and paramedics rushed the person driving the pickup truck to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
