Windsor police say a busy intersection has so far topped the list in 2024 for crashes.
In a post placed Thursday on X, formerly Twitter, Windsor police say the intersection of Howard Avenue and the E.C. Row Expressway, near Devonshire Mall, has been the most dangerous one in the city over the first eight months of 2024.
According to police, 38 vehicle crashes have occurred at the intersection since January.
Members of the Traffic Enforcement Unit began monitoring traffic at the city's ten most dangerous intersections in May. Officers have been looking for impaired driving, aggressive driving, and distracted driving.
Police have provided some tips for staying safe, including the following.
Stay alert, as the majority of crashes occur at intersections.
Obey all traffic signals and signage.
Maintain a safe following distance. Don't tailgate.
Be prepared for the possibility of sudden stops.
Put the cell phone away, even at a red light.
