A partnership involving Windsor police has resulted in two dozen people being arrested over two days.
Members of the Problem-Oriented Policing (POP) Unit teamed up with representatives from the Windsor-Essex Community Housing Corporation on Tuesday and Wednesday, for a high-visibility community safety blitz at the apartment buildings on Glengarry Avenue near Caesars Windsor.
The two-day initiative resulted in 24 arrests, plus ten outstanding warrants executed.
The charges included six counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of assault, two counts of arson, eight counts of theft under $5,000, five counts of failure to comply with a court release order, and four counts of failure to comply with conditions of probation.
Windsor Police Superintendent of Patrol Services Jill Lawrence said the blitz is in response to complaints from neighbourhood residents.
"This initiative was launched in response to concerns from residents of our Glengarry Neighbourhood and the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation," said Lawrence. "Our team conducted proactive patrols to support the safety of these residents and meet the needs of our downtown community."
The charges have not been proven in court.
