Battle 519 is still looking for basketball players to compete in the first Labour Day hoops tournament.
The three-day tournament runs from August 30 - September 1 at Festival Plaza in downtown Windsor.
Registration fees have just been lowered. The price for youth divisions is now lowered to $250 per team, adult men’s and women’s teams will now be $350 per team, while corporate teams will remain at $400. The deadline to register is this weekend.
The Festival Plaza will be set up with multiple courts to host 3-on-3 games in seven different divisions.
"We hope to bring to Windsor something the city has never seen before, a community event like no other,” said Manny Pangilinan, one of the event organizers with Battle 519. “We hope this sparks an annual gathering that the community can rally behind in support of the broader community."
Organizers hope the tournament has a festival atmosphere. They are bringing in live entertainment, and local food vendors to create the experience.
All money raised from the event will be donated to Hospice of Windsor and Essex County and W.E. Care for Kids.
