Man arrested after theft and assault

A 22-year-old man has been charged after Windsor police say he allegedly pulled a knife on someone trying to retrieve a stolen bicycle.

Officers were called to the area of Riverside Drive East near Marentette Avenue at around 9 p.m. Thursday. Auxiliary officers in the area had obtained information.

Police learned that the victim had seen a man riding a bicycle allegedly stolen from the victim's business. When the victim went to the suspect to confront him, showing a photo of the bike as proof of ownership, the suspect brandished a knife and stole $40 from the victim before fleeing.

The suspect was found a short time later.

He is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, and possession of stolen property.

The charges have not been proven in court.
