Rainfall warning affecting southern Windsor-Essex

A line of slow-moving thunderstorms will affect portions of Windsor-Essex Wednesday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Windsor-Essex.

Essex, Kingsville, Amherstburg, Leamington, Pelee Island, and surrounding areas are most likely to see heavy rain.

Forecasters have been tracking a line of slow, intense storms from northwest Ohio and extreme southeastern lower Michigan, moving east.

Rainfall amounts of up to 50 millimetres are possible before the rain moves out of the area late Wednesday afternoon.

"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads," read the warning from Environment Canada. "Heavy rainfall in combination with other weather factors, such as hail, wind, and lightning will make outdoor activities unsafe."
