Holiday Beach closed due to high bacteria

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) has closed a local beach due to a high E.coli count.

In this week's round of beach water testing, the health unit determined that bacteria levels were excessively high at Holiday Beach in Amherstburg, and have closed the beach for swimming.

The bacteria count was 1,000. All eight public beaches were tested on Wednesday.

The remaining seven beaches are under a "code green" with E.coli levels under 100.

Complete information on beach water testing can be found on the health unit's official website.
