A rise in the number of drug overdoses has again been reported in the region.
According to the Windsor-Essex Community Opioid and Substance Strategy (WECOSS), 15 opioid-related emergency department visits were reported between Sunday, June 2, and Saturday, June 8.
Out of those 15 incidents, nine involved fentanyl.
"Partners involved in the WECOSS, including the WECHU, Windsor Regional Hospital, Essex Windsor-EMS, Erie Shores Healthcare, and Police Services, continue to monitor this increase and are working to understand more about these reported cases," read the alert from WECOSS.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit tracks the number of overdoses in partnership with dozens of agencies and groups in the region, including Windsor police, LaSalle police, the OPP, the City of Windsor, Essex-Windsor EMS, and others.
