Three Windsor-Essex beaches report elevated bacteria levels

If you hope to visit a Windsor-Essex beach this weekend, you may want to avoid the water at three of them.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) announced on Friday morning that the three beaches, Colchester in Essex, Holiday in Amherstburg, and Seacliff in Leamington, had higher-than-normal E.coli bacteria levels during weekly testing.

With the trio of beaches under a "code yellow", swimming is not recommended. The beaches themselves and other amenities are available as usual.

The E.coli levels at the three affected locations registered higher than 200, according to the health unit.

The tests were conducted on Wednesday, though the health unit has acknowledged that water conditions may change frequently.

Windsor-Essex's other five public beaches are under "code green", meaning there are no restrictions.
