University of Windsor President Robert Gordon has committed to meeting with representatives from the Palestinian Solidarity Group encampment.
The group erected a "liberation zone" last Thursday and erected tents Friday evening. Just over a dozen tents were set up on campus outside Dillon Hall on Wednesday morning.
The demonstrators say they will stay on campus until the university meets their demands. Those demands include disclosing financial statements, divesting from any entities that benefit Israel, an academic boycott from Israeli institutions, and more support for students on campus.
"We're looking forward to being able to have some conversations with [the group] in the coming days to see what we can work through and certainly to make sure that we place a priority on this remaining peaceful and supportive and really an opportunity for us to learn and get better," said Gordon.
PSG media liaison Jana Alrifai indicated they want more than just a conversation.
"We want to be sure that anything that happens is immediate, it's timely, it's not going to be stuck in a bureaucratic process of maybes and promises but actual action with an end date and concrete steps," said Alrifai.
A firm date and time for the meeting have not been finalized.
